Taking part in the BA at Northbrook was one of the best decisions I ever made. The development you can go through in a single year is remarkable and it was worth every minute. The BA year pushes you to think deeper, research wider, learn more, grow in ways you never even knew you had the potential to do so. We were pushed to create, and that encouragement and support to believe in yourself and your own craft can unlock boundless possibilities. I have personally gone from simply wanting to perform on stage, to wanting to write my own material, direct my own shows, compose my own music, and put my own creative stamp on the world. Emily, Vanessa and Andrew are the most incredible and life changing tutors you can find and I owe them everything!

The BA top-up year allowed me to take the practical skills I’d learnt in my foundation degree in my own direction. The modules are very much student-led which gave me the opportunity to really focus on the aspects of my discipline I enjoyed most. I came from the Hair and Makeup foundation degree, so having creative freedom over my projects was exciting and led to some of my best work. The collaborative modules gave a good insight into working in the industry, and it was fascinating to learn about the different disciplines involved in Theatre Arts. For me, the best part of the BA was being taught how to apply a theoretical lens to my practice. It gave me the chance to approach my discipline in a three-dimensional way which opened up so many avenues for me to explore. The support of the tutors helped me believe in my work, and their encouragement and guidance during the dissertation module helped me discover a new passion for academia. I’m now pursuing that passion through a Masters degree in Gender and Media at Sussex Uni - and I owe that to the confidence and skills given to me throughout this BA.
