Musical Theatre

Level 3 Extended Diploma

The Musical Theatre pathway covers the diverse training required for progression into the Musical Theatre industry. You will take workshops in vocal technique and a variety of dance styles, as well as focusing on a broad range of acting skills including improvisation, physical theatre, devising and script work. Public performances take place in our main house theatre, working alongside production students, simulating industry practice and standards. This will prepare you for a successful career or for further training in higher education.

Who Runs The World?

During the last few months our 2nd Year Musical Theatre students have worked exceptionally hard to continue their training, albeit ‘virtually’. They have explored new ways of working practically; developing acting and voice technique through zoom meetings, maintained fitness and dance technique via live streaming and learnt a wealth of new digital technology to create performance. The results of this are shown here in ‘Who Runs The World?’ A showcase created, performed, edited by our 2nd year Musical Theatre Students, in ‘Lockdown’. An unprecedented process for an unprecedented time but one in which I am personally, incredibly proud of  them for demonstrating their perseverance, dedication and commitment to their practice. They are an inspiration. Well Done. We hope you enjoy.

Next year I’m progressing on to do the L4 Diploma in Performance at Northbrook MET.

My experience on the Extended Diploma course has been incredible. I’ve met my closest friends, had professional training and although we’ve had our ups and downs with ourselves and as a class, as many aspiring performers do, the course and the tutors prepare you for industry life and give you the support you need to progress as a person and as a performer. Thank you Northbrook!

Northbrook has been such a surreal experience and has given me professional training within musical theatre and has developed me as a person. As well as this I have also met an amazing group of people who I class as some of my close friends and people that I wish the best for. Northbrook overall has been incredible and a place I would highly recommend for others.

Next year I am very excited to continue my musical theatre training at Northbrook, and focus more on my dance training.

Throughout my two years at Northbrook, I have grown so much confidence and such a huge passion for musical theatre. I also discovered I really enjoy dance and it is something I’ve improved in a lot throughout the course. This has made me even more excited to continue training at Northbrook due to the training standard as well as the support we receive.

Northbrook has given me so many amazing opportunities that I will never forget. I have met some incredible people and had the chance to collaborate with people from all across the creative and theatre departments.
